In a 2008 survey conducted by Cystex® urinary relief tablets, 70% of women indicated they have walked out of a public restroom without using it because they felt it was “too dirty.”  However, if you squat when you urinate in a public restroom to avoid an infection from the toilet seat, you may actually be [...]

Cystex Helps you Understand the Issues about Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

Experiencing an increased need to urinate (with, perhaps, even as little as just a few drops coming out at a time)? Does it burn when you go? Having pain or discomfort in your lower pelvic region?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you may have a urinary tract infection (UTI). In the United States alone, urinary tract infections (UTIs) account for more than eight million doctor visits each year and are considered the second most common infection in the body. While anyone at any age can get a urinary tract infection (UTI), women are more prone to them, and of those women who experience a urinary tract infection (UTI), 20 percent will have a second infection and 30 percent will have a third (what is considered a “recurring UTI infection”), according to the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).

While some women may self-diagnose themselves, particularly if they’ve experienced one in the past, a urinary tract infection (UTI) requires both confirmation with a doctor’s diagnosis (urinalysis and/or urine culture) and a course of prescription antibiotics to clear it up. However, it may take a few days to get in to see your physician, and a day or so more for the prescription antibiotic to kick in, so urologists recommend that instead of suffering while you wait, taking an effective, over-the-counter medicine to help with the infection’s pain and progression is a good bet. Cystex® is the only over-the-counter urinary pain reliever available with a dual-action formula that not only eases the pain and burning caused by a urinary tract infection (UTI), but also contains an antibacterial (methenamine) to help keep the infection from getting worse while you wait for your doctor’s appointment. It won’t cause a change in your urine color either.

Some health experts believe too that, if taken before engaging in activities that may contribute to recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs), Cystex® may also act as a preventative to keep a potential infection from starting. Talk to your physician about prevention.
